Bond

I don't go to the movies very often. At some point I used to think that one had to go with a chic, so my visits to the cinema have been directly proportional to the number of dates I've had. I will not pursue this line of thought further.

Anyway. There's something therapeutic about a big screen and surround sound, and some movies have to be experienced in such. I remember when we were younger, there used to be a cinema in the vicinity of our neighbourhood. Every so often we would gather [in the literal sense] coins and once we had 3 bob, we would head off to watch some shaolin movie. Those were the best. Invigorating and inspiring. For a week after that, I would be doing my best Bruce Lee impressions.

Bond is the other character that I prefer to watch on a big screen. For me it started way back in primary school when the end of term [or was it end of year] movie screening was invariably a Bond movie. Lately though, I've been rather lethargic and my last really memorable impression of Bond on the big screen was in Golden Eye. And it's not that I haven't wanted to. I have. And I will. The premier is set for Dec 2 in this part of the world. I'll probably catch it sometime during the weekend, provided the queues aren't too long.

Confession...I have never watched a bond movie on big screen, only in the comfort of my mother's family room with my brothers.
The queues are bound to be long especially with the schools closed but it should be worth it.
Enjoy.

I think Golden Eye is the only one of the new generation Bonds that I did not watch big screen, so if we run into each other on one of the queues cut me in.

Lol!

I used to think it would be better to have a hairy tarantula lay an egg in my ear than go to the movies alone or *gasp* without a date but now I will happily go alone. I am still trying to talk my mind round the idea of having dinner alone, would you?

Ps - I agree with you, Bond is definitely one for the big screen and I discovered this after watching “Die another day” that bit when the the main soundtrack is played at the beginning is what did it for me.

D - I was hoping that would go unnoticed.

I have gone to a bar and sat at the counter by myself. And I don't drink. So dinner alone would be child's play. Of course I'd prefer it if I wasn't alone, but it can be done.

And the Bond theme songs are part of the whole experience. One of the reasons Golden Eye made such an impression on me.

Ah, going movies solo, done that for a long time. Eating out solo is also child's play as you put it.

Casino Royale is great. One of those I wouldn't mind watching a second time on big screen.

Finally got to see the movie. Yes. I had a date. Didn't really get into it. Not quite sure why. Perhaps next time.
