Suppose you get an sms like How was your day? Goodnight. What are you supposed to do with it. Do you reply and go on about your day. Do you assume that she actually wants to go to sleep right now so you should reply tomorrow. Do you assume that she really wants to know how your day was but was running low on credit so killed two birds with one stone. In which case, if she indeed is out of credit, you may as well reply tomorrow. Do you mutter to yourself and act like you never received the sms.

In case of doubt do nothing.
Being the punk that I am (by punk I mean wuss) I would go for the same treatment. Inform them on how your day was. "My day was good. I actually thought about you. Hope you are ok. Goodnight".
Then immediately switch to the last one. Act like nothing happened. Because otherwise you will be left thinking about if she has credit or not? Will she reply? Then you end up not starting your Good night very well.
But that's just me.
Its a ploy to test the waters, she probably wants to see if u still feel her. Ignore if its a matter that u have closed but take it as an opportunity if u still want some action
