Which is the nobler of the two?

Got tired of the hotel food on Saturday and so went out to the local mall for lunch. Sat outside to watch the people go by. Its summer after all and the gals are showing lots of skin. Eye candy always gets my spirits up.

I was taking my time with my lunch even had a book to keep me company. Over the years I have learnt that when you go to a restaurant alone it helps to have something to keep you busy as you wait for the meal to be served. As I was waiting I noticed two men in the tables in front of me. I reckon they were both the same age mid fifties. Both were Europeans but that is where the difference ended.

One of them was with his family - a wife, two teenage daughters and sun who I estimate to have been 8 or 9. They must have been on holiday. From their accents I could tell they were English. The guy had a hard time getting his son to behave. He was always telling him to sit down, eat properly stop making too much noise etc.

The other guy was by himself. He sat facing the street, had a beer as he waited for his meal and watched the people go pass as he waited for his meal. I checked and noticed he was not wearing a wedding band. I imagined he might also be on holiday and might even have traveled all the way down by himself. He seemed comfortable and experienced spending time by himself.

The two men got me wondering about what I would rather be. The guy who starts a family or the guy who will have many tables for one going forward.

Pray do tell. Whether tis nobler to be the family man or the perennial bachelor?

I think it's "nobler" to be the guy with the wife and kids. It's probably also nobler to be a pastor/priest, but it doesn't mean that's what all of us should do.

having graduated to adulthood, i think you are asking the wrong question. I realized that every one is out to make your life more fukd up so the question is which of those two guys has the least shit in his life. Getting a famo is like joining primary school (in as much as we propose in reality we r not given a choice), you were not exactly asked to join, you preferred to remain at home (away from school) and play with the kids who didnt have to attend school. You actually envied the kids who didnt go to school. In school there was homework, uniform, waking up early, viboko from the teachers, maybe bullies if you of small stature-all that pile of hardship- but there was also fun stuff like P.E, getting into a fight and actually beating up the 3rd bodi and taking his spot, pocket money, sports days, pinch a chicks boobs and run etc. So at the end of primo you probably are not too happy but again not too sad about going thru it and it doesnt hurt that you get a KCPE cert. The guy who didnt go to school must have played all those years, didnt need to wake up early or homework or any of the shit you had to endure and has no cert- family. Probably after school you get idiot level marks, fkd up family with alcoholic wife and gun totting mugger for a son......So which one has a less fkd up journey and has some results to show...

Big difference between going to primo and taking the family route. I did not have a choice about primo. My folks made the decision for me. I can choose to have a family or not.

Further, the choice to have a family impacts more than just me and its not the kind of decision a guy can reverse. I can wake up tomorrow and decide I have the worst job in the world and I am never going back and the impact of such a decision will only impact myself. Conversely a guy cant wish a family away.
